What is special about First Aid Five?

The First Aid Five team has evaluated a number of sources of publicly available first aid advice and have brought together in one place widely recognised best practice. Using this advice, the team have then written new training material which is easy to follow and understand. Animated videos produced by medical experts have been included as well as recap videos produced by First Aid Five. All first aid techniques included are in line with NHS online advice. This course is unique as it makes the content so accessible and easy to understand, and will equip you to make a real difference should a medical emergency arise.

How is the course structured?

There are five main sections, one for each of the First Aid Five. Each section has a number of lectures which breakdown the content into bite-size parts. At the end of each lecture there is a fun quiz to test your knowledge and which you can retake as often as you like. Pictures, diagrams and videos complement the written material. At the end of each of the five sections, there is a First Aid Five video which recaps all the key learning points. Note that the first section on chest pain represents about half of the content of the whole course as it includes teaching on CPR, using a defibrillator and the recovery position.

How long will it take me to complete the course?

The course can be done in your own time in as little as a day or two, or over a couple of weeks. We encourage you to go at a pace that is right for you and take time to absorb the information. There is no pass mark so all you need to do to obtain a certificate is complete the course. Keep revisiting the course any time from any device and retake the fun quizzes to help consolidate your knowledge.

How much does the course cost?

For individuals the course costs only £30. For this price you get ongoing access to all the material even after you complete the course. You also receive a CPD certificate. There are no other charges.

For schools, the cost is £1 per person with a minimum cost of £500. So for a school with up to 500 pupils and staff the cost will be £500. For a school with, for example, 900 pupils and staff, the cost will be £900. All prices exclude VAT.

Similarly for employers, the cost is £1 per person with a minimum cost of £500. So for an organisation with up to 500 employees the cost will be £500. For an organisation with, for example 900 employees, the cost will be £900. All prices exclude VAT.

What is a CPD certificate?


Having completed the course you will receive a First Aid Five certificate accredited by the CPD Certification service. This service was established in 1996 as the UK's leading independent CPD (Continuing Professional Development) accreditation institution. The CPD Certification Service provides recognised independent CPD accreditation compatible with global CPD principles. You can include this certificate on your CV as a formal qualification.
